Acabei de escrever uma breve análise pós-colonial do livro O Último Voo do Flamingo. O valor alienante de soldados a explodir sem qualquer explicação óbvia e pénises voantes pelos ares… Tudo isto nascido da mente refinada do autor moçambicano Mia Couto…

This book has been translated into English by David Brookshaw, professor of Luso-Brazilian Studies at the University of Bristol. In last year’s conference on translation studies, organized by the department of Portuguese of Utrecht University, he has shown some examples of the difficulties he encountered while translating O Último Voo do Flamingo (En: The Last Flight of the Flamingo). I still remember his translation of the name of the local prostitute Ana Deusqueira into Anna Godwilling.
